AP High School Basketball Polls

The first AP high school basketball polls came out Monday afternoon.

The initial rankings place Ballard on top of the boys' poll and undefeated Marion County No. 1 in the girls'.

Defending state champ Trinity followed Ballard in the boys' rankings, with UK commit Derek Willis led Bullitt East taking the third spot.

Henry Clay slid in at No. 4. with Scott County fifth.

With two future Wildcats on the roster, Marion County was the undisputed No. 1 in the girls' poll. Makayla Epps and Kyvin Goodin-Rogers have the Lady Knights rolling with an undefeated record. Marion County has outscored its opponents 1,144 to 565.

With just one loss on the season, Anderson County sits in the second spot. The sole blemish on the season was a 2-point loss to Bryan Station in the Republic Bank Classic on Dec. 22.

With a pair of losses to Marion County, Madison Central slid in at No. 4.
