The “Royal treatment” for Lexington Legends fans begins at Whitaker Bank Ballpark Monday, April 8.
The Legends will open their first season as an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals on that night when they take on the Asheville Tourists at 7:05 p.m. Opening night is presented by Jackey Tax.
“This is a highly anticipated opening night for the Legends,” said General Manager Seth Poteat. “With the new affiliation, a new look with new logos, some great promotions and entertainment, and a very talented Legends team ready to take the field, we’re really excited about the start of the 2013 season. ”
Opening night, and all Monday night home games, will be “Kids Eat Free” nights, sponsored by Members Heritage Federal Credit Union. All kids age 12 and under will receive a voucher good for a free meal and drink.
The first of 16 Ford Fireworks shows this season will follow the opening game.
Winchester native Lauren Mink, who reached the Hollywood round of television’s American Idol in each of the last two years, will sing the national anthem and God Bless America.
Legends’ players will wear their new home uniforms for the first time, displaying the new look unveiled in October when Big L rappelled down the 30-story Lexington Financial Center while wearing new Legends gear.
