The face of Louisville basketball will soon be featured on a bottle of one of Kentucky's signature bourbons.
Maker's Mark will honor Cardinals coach Rick Pitino on the second in its series of commemorative bottles being sold to benefit the school's planned Academic Center of Excellence. The distiller will produce 12,600 bottles recognizing Pitino's accomplishments - including winning this season's NCAA championship and his upcoming induction into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame.
Maker's Mark quickly sold 8,400 bottles of last year's first edition featuring Louisville football coach Charlie Strong.
Maker's Mark is in the second of a three-year commitment to raise more than $500,000 toward the academic center that will be located at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
