Greensboro starter Austin Brice allowed one hit in the first six innings, a fifth-inning home run by Michael Antonio, as the Grasshoppers completed a three-game series sweep with a 3-1 win over the Lexington Legends Thursday night.
Greensboro took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With two outs, Jesus Solorzano and Viosergy Rosa singled, putting runners at first and third, and both scored on a double by Yordy Cabrera.
Greensboro added a run in the second. Yefri Perez reached first on an error by first baseman Mark Threlkeld, moved to second on a ground out, stole third base and came home on a single by Rehiner Cordova.
The 3-0 score held until two outs in the bottom of the fifth when Antonio hit his fourth home run of the year.
Brice (5-6) walked three batters and struck out nine in six innings. Frankie Reed earned his 11th save with a scoreless ninth inning.
The Legends’ only other hit was a single by Raul Mondesi in the eighth inning.
Legends starter Christian Binford (5-4) worked the first eight innings. He allowed six hits and three runs, two earned, but took the loss. He walked one batter and struck out eight. Binford’s earned run average is 2.09, third best in the South Atlantic League.
The Legends remain at home to open a four-game series with the Delmarva Shorebirds Friday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
