On Wednesday September 18th, University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women’s Soccer team traveled north to take on Mid-South Conference (MSC) rival St. Catharine College (SCC). The ladies were hoping to rally for their first conference win against the Patriots but were unsuccessful as they fell 1-2.
The first half of play was scoreless, but St. Catharine answered shortly after the start of the second half as Macy Higdon scored the first goal of the game in the 63rd minute of play, giving the SCC Patriots a 1-0 lead. Eight minutes later the UC Patriot ladies answered back with a goal by Dakota Gadd (Berea, KY) assisted by Ginger Johnson (London, KY) tying the game 1-1. Not long after though, in the 73rd minute, St. Catherine fired back as Higdon scored her second goal of the night giving the SCC Patriots a 2-1 lead that they would not relinquish.
UC’s Autumn Williams (Lexington, KY) played the entire match in the goal allowing 2 goals while accumulating 5 saves in the game. Freshman Amerah Dixon (Corbin, KY) also added two shots on goal.
The Patriot ladies will be back in action on Friday September 20th as they host Georgia Gwinnett. Match time is set for 4:00 pm.
