The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women’s Golf team had another successful outing this week as they took home first place at the St. Catherine Fall Invite. Shooting a 615 overall after two days of play, the Patriot ladies earned their third tournament win of the season and fourth top 3 finishes.
Senior Taylor Gillis (Lawrenceburg, KY) led the way for the Patriots as she captured Medalist honors, shooting 151 (+7) overall. Teammates Bri-Anne Tokariwski (Winnipeg, Canada) and Shannon Bishop (Glasgow, KY) tied for 3rd place overall after finishing with a score of 154 (+10), while Liz Stephens (Tockington, Bristol UK) and Chelsea Branscum (Somerset, KY) finished 9th and 13th respectively after shooting scores of 159 (+15) and 161 (+17). Candice Lindeque (Boksburg, South Africa) also had a successful tournament finishing in 16th place with a score of 164 (+20), while Rachel Pingleton (Parksville, KY) finished with a 167 (+23) and finished 23rd.
Head Coach Chris Kraftick commented, “Our women were very motivated after the Alabama trip and I expected a good effort. It’s our 3rd win in 4 events this fall, but they also understand we can still improve in a lot of areas.”
The Patriot ladies will look to continue their reign of dominance as they compete in the Chick-Fil-A-Classic on October 21st -22nd in Rome, GA.
