The WKU Hilltopper Basketball team met with the media Thursday afternoon as part of Media Day activities, as the first game of the 2013-14 season approaches in nine days on November 2.
Head coach Ray Harper first addressed the 20 media members in the Paul Just Media Center at E.A. Diddle Arena, before the reporters met with members of the team in the locker room.
"We are going to try to play more up-tempo because we do have more depth," Harper said. "We have more interchangeable parts. I think we could survive an injury if we had to with this team. We got a glimpse of that a couple weeks ago. George Fant missed four days of practice, and we didn't miss a beat. We were able to move some people around. I don't know if that was the case in the last couple of seasons."
The 2013-14 Hilltoppers return four starters and eight letterwinners from a 2012-13 squad that won 20 games and went to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament crown. The 2013-14 season opens on November 2 with an exhibition game against Campbellsville (Ky.) at E.A. Diddle Arena at 3:00 PM (CT).
